Levi's are Great
Date:June 27, 2012
If
you buy these make sure you get 1 size bigger. My mistake & I have
to send these back to exchange for 1 size bigger. Bought them as a
surprise for husband's birthday & he loved it. Too bad he can't wear
them until I get the other size.

Great Jeans
Date:June 25, 2012
The
size my husband wears is really hard to find in the department stores. I
recommend though when buying the shrink to fit to make sure you order
just like it says to, bigger than you need. They do shrink one size
down.

Don't spin, ever!
Date:June 19, 2012
Bought
and completed the tub shrink, wore to dry, and they were perfect. I
didn't wash them for at least 2 months then my wife put them in the
washing machine (mistake) including the spin cycle (big, big mistake).
The jeans lost at least 50% of their colour (Canadian spelling) but
worse, the spin left crease marks all over the jeans. Pretty much ruined
them until they totally fade out. They are now resigned to biker wear
only, but still fit great.
Don't machine wash, ever.
I bought actual waist size (36) and 4 inches longer that my inseam.
I also bought the 501 SFT raw and they are great too. Maybe not as good of a fit, but better colour.

Levi's 501 Original Shrink to fit
Date:June 14, 2012
I
have made purchases recently of 501's that were made in Haiti that were
inferior as they shriveled and twisted after washing to the pioint that
I could not wear them. Fortunately the recent purchase by email were
made in Mexico which I have had good luck with.

Never Tried Shrink to Fits Before
Date:June 13, 2012
I
am interested in selvedge jeans, but wasn't ready to jump to shrinking
my own jeans with something more expensive yet. Hopefully these will be a
gateway to understanding denim better. Here is what I've learned so
far.
1.
I normally wear 32x34. I bought 32x36. That was perfect. I could afford
to lose a half inch in the waist and they fit perfectly.
2. I like shrink to fit better then the regular 501s. I bought a pair of regular 501s at the same time, and I'm breaking them both in now. The shrink to fits look nicer and fit better so far.
3. Don't wash the jeans. This seems to be agreed upon by all denim experts. I am planning to wait 3-6 months before washing them in the tub with some detergent.
4. The thighs of 501s are tight. Mine are 8.5-9 inches across the thigh. This could take some getting used to if you haven't worn 501s. The waste and seat are not as tight, but the thighs kind of hold the pants in place.
5. The style is growing on me a lot. They look really nice, and they fit me exactly.
6. Shrinking instructions. Run hot water in a bath tub, turn the pants inside out, soak them in the water and leave them for 1 hour. Hang them up outside to dry for a day, and then put them on while they were a tiny bit wet.

Make them your own
Date:June 9, 2012
Ok,
right off the bat, I'm a woman. I've been wearing Levis since I was 15.
Started out with the STF, getting them wet and wear-drying. Once the
pre-washed came out I bought them, but since the fit changed a few years
ago making the waist bigger and the legs slimmer, I had to come back to
the STF. I don't have small thighs and carry most of my "extra weight"
in the saddle bag area. Most women's jeans look like they were
spray-painted on and are sooo uncomfortable. I don't want a tight fit on
the thighs or backside, but not baggy either. Plus, I love the button
fly.
With the STF I buy 1 inch up on the waist and 4 inches on the length (I'd rather have them too long than too short). I start out soaking the jeans in hot water for at least an hour. Wring them out and soak up as much water with a towel. Hang to dry. Try them on... they made need another hot soak for the length as that's where most of the shrinking will come from. Hang to dry again. You may want to wear them damp on the second try, but not too damp as you don't want to stretch out the knees and backside. This is where I feel I can custom fit the thigh area.
Then just wear them. And I do mean wear them. They're just like wine... they get better with age. They take time to soften and wear naturally. If you don't care about sculpting your own fading, wear them until they start getting a little smelly and toss them in the dryer on low with a softener sheet. This will freshen them and soften. If you must wash, use cold water and dry on low. You won't get much more shrinkage. Personally, I want to get my own wiskering and fading so I try not to wash or toss in the dryer while they're still stiff. When I do eventually wash it's always on cold and either hang or machine dry on low.
The bottom line is the more you wear them, the more they will conform to you. There are a number of web sites out there devoted to custom fading and/or shrinking these jeans. Just search for shrinking or fading Levi 501 shrink to fit.

Best raw denim for the price
Date:June 2, 2012
I
love levis because of their history. When I put on these jeans I can
imagine a miner or lumberjack, farmer or motorcycle thug doing the same
thing. They come stiff as a board when delivered; a blank canvas. Take a
few hours to shrink them while wearing them in the tub (the water will
turn blueish-purple) and wear them around until dry. This allows the
indigo to fade unevenly, giving the look of all the work you do in them
and specially formed to your body. I don't have to wear a belt with mine
and the length is perfect. Wear them everyday and prolong washing as
much as you can to really get them fitting well. Choose your normal
waist size but go long on the length and you'll be solid.

Buying and receiving my jeans went smoothly. They are shrink to fit.
I need a refresher course on how to shrink them, but instructions were not included with the jeans nor could I find them on line.

The button holes on the 501s were too small and arrived pre- freyed.

Hard to Fit a Girl (Woman)
Date:May 27, 2012
I
normally wear Levi's size 8, so this was difficult. I bought 2 pair, 34
x 34 & 36 x 34. Forget the 36, they're going back. I washed the
34's 4 times in hot water & they're finally wearable. Very
comfortable. The length is perfect, but I have freakishly long legs for
5'4". I normally wear a 32 or 33 length. I think I might order another
pair in 32 X 34. More women need to write reviews if they try these. It
would definitely help others to know how to size these bad boys.

Why did I ever leave Levi's?!?
Date:May 13, 2012
As
a kid, I wore Levi's 501's all the time but these are the first pair I
have tried in over 15 years and I am back! I love the fit, the shrink to
fit makes them feel custom fit, and they have the timeless / classic
look I was looking for. They have the perfect looks tight but feels
loose fit and a dark/clean look that is perfect for casual Friday at the
office or a night out.

Great Service
Date:May 11, 2012
The
waist size Levi's recommends is too much. Stick with either your
natural waist or maybe 1" bigger. These jeans stretch a lot! If you
don't want your jeans to give you diaper butt after a day or two, err
towards the smaller size.
Levi's service was AWESOME! I had to return the first pair I bought because they didn't shrink down to the projected size. Levi's completed my return without any difficulty, and my replacement pair arrived promptly.

hello
i have purchased a pair of the 501 ,,shrink to fit jeans ,,i like them
except for the bottom of the legs are a little to wide of an opening ,,i
wish Levi,s would make them a little more tapered ,and make them with a
zipper also . final recommendation is that at the waist have them come
higher at the waist ..

I've
worn Levis shrink to fit for 60 years. My inseam is 30" which would
require a 33" inseam prior to washing. Recently Levis stopped making 33"
inseams on shrink to fit. The pants no longer fit me.
